Twenty years ago, the world was still a world of analogue data. The TV was analogue, cameras were analogue, camcorders were analogue, records were analogue, casettes were analogue... Calculators and fingers were about the only digital things in the average household. (Fingers, digits, get it?)
The world has changed, and it did not take much time to do so. Before we knew it, every day, we began receiving massive amounts of digital information, from Newgrounds movies and games to Project Gutenberg books, from Audio Portal music to lolcat GIFs, from YouTube videos to the ridiculously unfunny comments below them. (Yes, I used 'information' here, not 'data'.)
What exactly has changed the world? Why are the disadvantages of analogue data and how have digital data brought us so many conveniences that, last century, we could only dream of?
